In 2004, the Ray Township Historical Society began cataloging items in our collection. Each item was provided an inventory number and entered into a database, along with the donor’s name (if known) and a full description and condition of the item. In 2016, the Society’s name was formally changed to the Friends of the Ray Township Library and Historical Society. Currently, donations are appreciated in relation to the history of Ray Township and in support of the Library. Plans are underway for a storage area within the Ray Township Public Library to improve public access to the archives.

We are actively seeking new donations of items related to Ray Township's history. If you have something to donate, please be assured that the item will be formally accessioned into our collection, well cared for and noted that it was a donation from you. Items will be cared for with archival safe methods.

Some areas of consideration would include, but are not limited to:

  • Ray Township Cemetery artifacts / documents - Davis, Lee, Proctor
  • Ray Township Church artifacts / documents - including Davis and Ray Union
  • Ray Township School artifacts/photographs/documents – including Cascades, Davis, Dicken, Frog Mountain (Warner), Heldt, Mill, Priest, and Ray Center
  • Documents related to any Ray Township businesses, farms, cultural or recreational activities
  • Ray Township Family Trees and other genealogical documents
  • Ray Township Government related artifacts / documents
  • Ray Township tax records
  • Ray Township maps
  • Personal artifacts / documents
  • Photographs
  • Monetary donations

The costs of maintaining our archives properly as well as securing funds to complete our projects and activities are crucial to our goal of preserving Ray Township's history. Because we are a completely self-supporting group, the Ray Township Historical Society elected to become a 501 (c) 3, non-profit organization and as such your monetary donations are tax deductible.
